NATIONAL BAND SAW'S HISTORY
NBS was founded in 1953 by Jack Frank as a meat saw service company. By the time he founded NBS he already had over 30 years experience combining filed service work with the manufacturing of various parts for different lines of food service equipment. In addition to direct service experience, Jack had a philosophy of providing the very best service to his customers.
In 1954, Norm Frank joined his father and for the next ten years they serviced electric meat saws throughout California and Nevada. One of the challenges facing NBS was the frustration of getting the replacement parts needed to service their customer's equipment.
The parts needed were often not available or were not priced fairly. They recognized the need to manufacture their own parts. But to do so cost effectively and to maintain high standards required having parts manufactured in large quantities...more than NBS could possibly use servicing its own customers, so they began marketing their parts to other service companies. In 1960, NBS featured 60 meat saw replacement parts listed on a typed one page catalog.
In the early 1960's, NBS established their own manufacturing facility and began manufacturing of their own parts.
In 1970, Norm's son Harley joined the company. Working in all capacities for the company, and acquiring the skills and expertise that can only come with hands on experience, Harley is now the President and CEO. Today NBS has moved totally from the service business and grown to be the largest independent manufacturer and supplier of replacement parts for the food machinery service industry. The product line continues to grow and now includes over 2500 parts for: Butcher Boy, Biro, Hobart, Globe, Bizerba, Hollymatic®, Berkel, Torrey and Oliver machines. The catalog has grown from one page to more than 150 pages.
